USA Bus Lines

I must be an idiot! Can someone please help with my homework...?

I am taking an on-line cource and the assignment (which was due Tuesday, but I can't figure it out), is this...Using Readability Formula, Good Style and Building Goodwill...The Scenario is this...The trip scheduled for Mexico during spring break has been cancelled due to the bankruptcy of the bus company. You must tell 25 of your classmates that the trip has been cancelled and that they have lost their $100 deposit. How will you convey the information and still uphold their goodwill toward you? Then they give a table that ist Readability Formula, Good Style and Building Goodwill... I am so confused, I swear I have read the material 10 times and still do not get it. What sucks is I have a 4.0 and this is the class is going to end that. I have asked my instructor for help and she has been very short and not helpful at all. Can someone help me understand this? Thank You SO Much!

  1. tell them nicely that they lost it and why. Thats wut my teacher did when he took like 50 bucks from us each for a trip and owes like 1500 for the food that we never ate. Umm ok so for a chart make a name for all 25 or give them a number like #1 lost 100dollars , why, and why ur not responsibile for it or something IMAGINATION
  2. Look at this link: www.schiller.edu/siuheidelberg/upload/Resources/BA570/W7_BA570_Class_3.ppt Basically We have a problem and we have to change our plans. The bus company has gone bankrupt and we have lost our deposits. Has anyone any suggestions to make so that we can still have a good time at spring break?
  3. You want to make sure that your communication has all 3 of those in it: readability, good style, goodwill. So you would NOT say: Hey all, trips been xxld. Your money is lost. sorry not my fault. -- this has all 3 in a bad way. You would say: All, I regret to inform you that the trip to Mexico has been canceled due to an illness (or whatever).... (in other words explain what happened without going into a ton of detail (readability). Good style, should be in letter format, good English, proper grammar and spelling. Goodwill, make sure you would express sympathy and empathy with the reader. Don't get all gushy, keep it professional.
  4. Stop using this " I must be an idiot! " That itself will help you to overcome the problem. It is that simple. I am serious.
