Public Comments

  1. yes if they pass when the red lights are on
  2. yes
  3. No. All motorists are required to stop and wait for the bus to load/unload passengers, retract the safety stop sign, turn off flashing signal lights, and begin moving again before they may pass.
  4. YES IT IS AND IN SOME STATES THE FINE IS $1000.00 WITH NO QUESTIONS ASKED. THIS TYPE OF TICKET IS ONE OF THE WORST YOU CAN GET.
  5. In California, it is definetly illegal. The law, basically states that no vehicle may pass a school bus, in EITHER direction, when it's red lights are flashing. This does NOT apply to vehicles approaching from the OPPOSITE side of a multi lane or divided highway.
  6. Yes it's illegal, but in order to do anything you must get the license plate number and a description of the driver. I had a similar problem with my daughters bus stop and the police told me they couldn't do anything without the above information. Hope this helps.
  7. Yes, it is illegal. On a two lane road, all traffic is required by law to stop until the bus's lights quit flashing. On a divided highway, one with a grass or concrete median, the opposing traffic is not required to stop.
  8. This is not illegal in the UK, but can get you into serious trouble in the US. In the UK, the car would be driving up the pavement (sidewalk) to pass the bus on the left. We drive on the left and call the bit that people walk on the pavement, I know this is strange to you americans, but we invented this language.
  9. when would it be legal to pass a school bus , especially when the stop sign is flashing?
  10. That is so illegal.
