First time riding Metro bus in Silver Spring HELP?

Um this is my first time riding a bus and i got suspended off the school bus for 10 days and im taking the metro i want to get from Silver Spring to White Flint Mall since my school is closest can i just go to one of there stops and they could take me to white flint or would i have to got to the bus station which is 2.2 miles away walking distance oh yea and for Maryland answerers what bus takes me to white flint
