Taxi fare in New York City and New Jersey?

Hi. I will be visiting New York in about 2 weeks time and due to budget restraints, I will be staying in East Rutherford Meadowlands, New Jersey. I will be commuting to NYC via the bus services most of the time since there is a direct bus to Port Authority in NYC. I was wondering how much would a NY taxi set me back by? Are the taxi drivers willing to fetch me for example, Broadway back to East Rutherford Meadowlands? Any surcharge except for the toll charges? Can any one help me on this? THANKS!

  1. yes
  2. Taxi from Jersey into Manhattan will cost you a fortune. Take the train. And for love of God, don't use the word "fetch" they'll laugh you out of the city!
  3. i'm not too familiar wih specific rates, but i do know that taxis cost an arm and a leg, especially for a drive like that where there are so many traffic variables. If i were you, i would either take the bus or train. New Jersey transit is usually pretty good about stuff like that and they have fixed fares, so you wouldn't have to worry about fare volatility.
  4. it will cost you a lot i would take the train
  5. Stick to the bus as much as possible. If you stay in the city after the bus stops running, take the ferry to jersey (weehawken or hoboken) and call a cab ( a local jersey cab co.) on the jersey side of the river. Or take the path train to hobken adn get a cab there. Taking a cab from the city to jersey will cost much more. Check with your hotel for the rates of a cab from weeehawken or hoboken. Enjoy and have a great time
