Is there a bus service other than Greyhound from Atlanta to DC?
My mother wants to go from Atlanta to DC. There are Chinatown bus services from ATL to New York, but no one stops in DC. Please help me locate someone other than Greyhound. Also the flights are expensive and Amtrak is $165 each way.

- GoToBus operates bus service from Duluth to Alexandria, Virginia (right outside Washington). If your mother can get to Duluth, it's easy to get to get into the District via Metro from Alexandria. The only issue is that it's a 11-hour bus ride and looks to be about $100 each way.
- We have family in Atlanta and make roundtrip (about 625 miles each way) about twice a year. It's a long highway ride almost a full day (like 9 1/2 to 12 hours or more) even almost driving non-stop simply for gasoline that besides the great alternative bus info provided.... for members of our family when just one person is visiting or traveling, the airlines are even cheaper than $165 one way if your Mom flew on a non peak day in the middle of the week and just think of the extra time she would save if she traveled other than by bus or car.... Hope the Above Info Helps!
- She can ride with my mom! Seriously though, I've been looking into this exact issue with quite a bit of regularity, and I think Amtrak is the best option. The key is to be a little more flexible with your dates. Trips between ATL and DC can be found at $99 if you plan well in advance of your travel dates and leave on weekdays. Amtrak also offers discounts for seniors over 62 (about $15 each way), AAA members (about $10 each way), and some others. The route is overnight as well.
