does this novel idea sound stupid?

an 18 year old boy whose living in a trailer gets a desperately needed job with a greyhound breeder.the breeder breeds large numbers of dogs, to sell to the race track, and he races his best dog himself.the boy hates how the dogs are locked away in the kennels and treated like items in walmart.but thats nothing when he sees the man prepare to send his best dog to a laboratory, because hes "loosing his touch" the boy takes the dog,and quits the job.he loves the dog to death, but cant keep his mind off the other dogs the man still has.then his dog gets off balance, but the vet says hes fine, just getting over the abuse he had.the dog is incredibly fast.the man and boy finally bet on who gets the dog by racing them.if the boys dog wins he gets all 30 dogs to the adoption center.he gets people to sponser his dog and before long, the fate of all the greyhounds lies with that dog.if he looses the man gets him back.the dog wins, but dies of cardiac arrest due to being doped for so long

  1. I think that novel would spawn a sadness on the same level as Old Yeller. Poor, poor greyhound...
  2. hi! Is this a true story? hahaha...it sounds quite silly! in the beginning I felt sorry for the dogs but as I continued reading, I began to change my mind......don't know whether to laugh or cry.....hehehe...laugh at the phrase 'the fate of all the greyhouns lies with that dog.......' or cry as that poor greyhound died due to having being doped for so long. This last line, happens today and so it makes me angry to think that for a mere Human Entertainment these sweet animals must pay with their life.... take care bye
  3. well...it sounds good, but the part where he makes the dog race even though he (the dog) is sick is kind of contradictory. since the dog dies of heart problems in the end it should have shown some sign of sickness before the race.
  4. I've seen a movie similar to this story line. I don't remember what it was called, but they raced horses instead of dogs. It was a family movie, I think it was on Disney channel.
  5. i think it is a good story but i would prefer it as a film.please change it so the dog lives.
  6. Don't be disheartened, I can tell you feel strongly about the subject matter. This type of plot line is definitely tried and tested, it may even generate a little money, but it wont be any big hit. You really need to add in a bunch of plot twists that the reader simply could not predict after the first 15 or 20 pages. The ending would clearly bring a tear, but it has so many similar analogies to other stories that I think your only audience would be fellow dog lovers. The cold reality is that you would receive letters of rejection from all but the bottom dwelling sleazy publishers that make you risk your own money instead of theirs.
  7. ...and the dog loses. the boy cries... and the world spontaneously combusts
  8. I think you have been a bit naive, but you should contact the R S P C A. like yesterday about this man.
