our 8 year old white italian greyhound has developed a dark plum colored rash which is spreading daily.?

It started on Saturday and it has now covered a large portion of his body by tuesday. The vet said on monday that it could be a brown recluse bite. there is no open sores but there is fluid collecting under his skin. Has anyone ever seen this? Hi Travis, thanks for the input. No, he wasnt kicked. The vet saw him yesterday and wants to start an antibiotic cocktail. no open sores and this is day 4. It is very fast spreading and is holding fluid.

1. The color sounds right, but most brown recluse bites have something of an open sore associated with it, their venom causes tissue decay... Where is the rash located? Has your dog been exposed to excessive heat? Is it at all possible someone kicked your dog and possibly has some internal bleeding? It's hard to say without seeing it to know for sure, but under any of these circumstances I'd recommend a trip to the vet.
