I have an Italian greyhound that I would like to feed with home prepared food occasionally.?

The breeder where I got him was feeding her dogs raw chicken necks. I want to know if raw chicken WINGS are OK to feed.

  1. you really shouldnt give dogs raw chicken, there are many diseases in raw chicken, you should ask a vet though
  2. I wouldn't. The bones in the wings, if chewed up, could prove extremely harmful for the dog's gastrointestinal tract. I'd try to give them something without bones
  3. I wouldn't give her raw chicken wings, raw meat should be avoided altogether, and so should tiny bones. If you want to treat you dog; give her fully-cooked chicken without any bones. This way she doesn't get sick like you would if you ate raw meat and she won't get splinters from bones or choke on them.
  4. Yes, most dog/cat owners who use the Barf diet (Bones and Raw Food) give them. I feed them to cats and my dog and they love them! You obviously should be sure of your source of meat and you need to handle raw meat with care, but don't be put off with tales of 'food poisoning' it's rare in dogs, think of some of the things they will eat if given the chance! It's more common in humans because we digest food differently! It's cooked bones you should never feed a dog! They splinter more as cooking makes them brittle!
  5. Skip the chicken bones and give her thick cow leg bones or stew meat bones. Chicken bones are not good for dogs because they splitter and can cause serious problems when caught in the digestive system or throat.
  6. what about the choking hazard with swallowing something that is the same size as the dog neck...that is dumb to feed anything raw that has been injected with hormones.... i bake my pug boneless chicken thighs... boil some rice to go with that she eats cheerios for a snack i bake whole sweet potatoes in the over for 45 minutes or so be sure to wash thoroughly first...she like to eat the skins as well as inside of the potato nothing "made in china" from the dog treat isle ever ...the things that are in those things are not even digestible,, Solid Gold kibble is always out for her to eat
  7. I have information on yes to this and no to this, if you feed your dog a raw meat diet make sure you give right nutrition to complete your dogs diet, they have allot of dry foods on the market that are based on the raw meat diets, I would also add in a product called vegetarian blend kelp with garlic in it, you can buy it off the web, this has allot of vitamins and nutrients your dog needs to keep healthy. Good luck
  8. NO NO NO!!! DON'T ever, ever, give your beloved dog bones of any kind, even little bones such as wings! Bones, of any kind, can and do pierce stomachs, bowels, intestines etc etc! Take all meat off the bone and cook before giving it to your dog - would you eat raw meat? Didn't think so, so don't give it to your dog please. I could go on to tell you a real horror story but i won't, suffice to say i know what i'm talking about! Breeders will feed a pile of s**t to pups - its cheaper!!! Do you see where i'm coming from now?
