Italian Greyhound rescue adoption agencies in Seattle?

I am interested in adopting an Italian Greyhound rescue. I submitted my application over 2 weeks ago to IGCA Rescue. Because it's an all volunteer group the adoption process is very slow. Does any one know of a rescue group in the Seattle area or another way to get an Italian Greyhound? I'm not interested in purchasing one from a breeder or puppy mill. I want to save one that needs saving. I'm really excited to have an iggy become part of my life. Thanks for your help!!

  1. Please be patient... IG REscue is currently dealing with a lot of surrenders, some needing individual care and attention. As you said, it is all run by volunteers who have their own dogs and their own lives as well. I know you are impatient and anxious to let a dog into your life, but trust me when I say something worth having is worth waiting for. Please take a look at the iggy forum www.iggyplanet.com it'll appease some of your longings until your own dog arrives!
  2. As Karen said, please be patient. I'd have to look about the NW, but I know the mid West is getting slammed right now. There a LLLOOOTTT of inbound iggy's. Has the local IGCA Representative contacted you about setting up your home visit? After turning in the application, you must have the home visit before you can be approved to adopt. Now for the part you're not going to like to hear, but please bear with me... Remember, Rescue is there for the DOG, not for you. The whole point of the application, home visit, etc. is to get a feel for which dog will be a perfect match for you & your lifestyle. This is done so you aren't unhappy and subsequently return the dog to Rescue. I can tell you've given this whole thing some thought because you stated you want one that needs saving. Those weaker who just want the instant gratification go down to the local pet store and get the cute one in the window. As I'm sure you can guess... it's usually those dogs that we get into Rescue, because people know nothing about them
