- Do a research on Greyhound Bus tours, and see what places they go into the US
- get a ride to the border, hop on a bus.. and sleep the whole time!!!

- If your going south tto Detroit, it would be Greyhound, if your going to Buffalo or New York State, they are Trailways, and can be booked out of the Terminal on Bay St. I travel quite often to the Toronto area and have seen the tote board at the bus terminal.
- There are some discount plans but believe it or not, sometimes you can get airfares that are cheaper than going on the bus. Once you get into the states you will find airfares are a lot cheaper compared to leaving Pearson Airport provided you can put up with non-direct multiple connection flights. If you are flying domestic in the United States, you will not need a passport, only a birth certificate. http://www.greyhound.ca/en/deals/discounts.asp http://www.kayak.com http://www.cheapoair.com
- I would recommend touring the U.S. by train (Amtrak) rather than by Greyhound. It is far more comfortable and scenic, and the cost is comparable. The U.S. government subsidizes the passenger train service in the U.S. so it is a lot cheaper than train travel in Canada. Sleeping cars are still spendy, but traveling by coach is around the same as Greyhound, sometimes even a few dollars less. They also have some specials that allow you to get off for a few days in various cities. http://www.amtrak.com
- Telephone Greyhound.
