What Happens when you take a bus to Canada?

I was wondering if anyone has ever taken a bus in to canada like greyhound etc what do they do once you get to the border i was told that they just get on the bus and check your ID and if you have a passport they dont give you any problem ...or do they drag everyone off the bus to inspect them?...i'm thinking about taking a bus from boston to montreal

1. I would travel through New York and enter on foot through Niagra Falls as a tourist into Canada. It worked for me. Your visa has set restrictions on the time that you may remain within the Country. I stayed for two weeks.
2. You don't need a visa to enter Canada if you are an American citizen. Just a passport or photo id... When I took a bus from Canada into the usa, we stayed on the bus...this was pre 9/11 so I don't think they even checked everyone's id....the customs person came on the bus, asked if anyone had any fresh fruit/veggies, and that was about it.... Anywho, sorry I'm not much help, but just wanted to say that you don't need a visa if from the usa.... Enjoy your trip!!

4. I took a bus into Canada in the Spring of 2006. All they did was just come on the bus, ask if everyone was either an American or a Canadian citizen and if we had any firearms with us and did we have anything to declare. They didn't even check our passports! It's when you're coming back into the US that they check passports.
5. JUst like in the states the process is the same . Canadians crossing get off the bus and go to speak to immigration offices just like when you coming from the states and you get over into Canada you also get off the bus and go and sepak to Canadian officers! I know in the states while your travelling through you can have an officer come on the bus to check id...but usually when this happens they are looking for ilegals .(went on a greyhound in the states once ) it was horrid ,a nightmare would never do it again .I blamed it on my friend as I said we should of taken a plane ! It was easier before to cross !! But now it is not as easy due to 9/11
