How does immigration work crossing from Detroit to Canada?

I will be travelling from Detroit into Canada on a Greyhound bus, and want to know more about the immigration process. Thanks I'll be travelling into Canada from Detroit on Greyhound for a short visit, and want to know how the border crossing formalities work. I am a UK citizen, with a flight home already booked.

1. Crossing the border for just a vacation is easy enough, but for immigration.. try this website http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.asp I know my old roommate had a boyfriend from USA come to here (Canada) and then he decided he wanted to stay. There is a limit to how long he could stay on vacation so he had to apply for extended visas and stuff.. then they contemplated marriage but then they broke up and he went home. Another friend married a USA girl, took her two years to go through paperwork to finally be allowed to work legally. Good luck.
2. Have your ticket home and proof of UK residence available for the immigration officials.
