- From New York to Champlain (Montreal)the bus takes about 7 hours
- entering Canada is easier than reentering the US. I live near a busy border crossing, and busses are generally 45-60 minutes late into the US (my town is the first stop in the US). Northbound, I'm not sure, but it's not nearly as long.
- i know you need your birth certificate and the grey hound takes forever to do anything it took three days to go from washington to indiana
- Hi, Everyone does get off the bus and they go through Customs within a building. The time depends on how busy the border is when the bus is going across. Also, some people are questioned longer than others and now they will be checking everyone carefully. You do not need to have a passport. It is VERY difficult to estimate an accurate amount of time. The following website lists the wait times at the moment. Maybe you should check during a time you know you will be going over the border. http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/general/times/menu-e.html Good luck and I hope you enjoy our country!
- Yes, everyone gets checked through immigration. It all depends on how long it'll take. If there's no one on that bus that needs extra questioning, then it can go smoothly. Also, if the bus is full, expect it to take longer. Once when I took Greyhound, there was maybe 30 people on the bus, but because someone needed more questioning, we were there almost 2 hours.
- I cross on the railway. The journey is marginally longer but after the passport check on the station, immigration come throught the train and do the checks on the move.
