Do Greyhound bus-operators make good money?
Over the holidays, I Greyhound busses driving everywhere. It seems like a large responsibility driving a bus full of people so many long hours and I wonder: what kind of money do they make?

- They used to get paid decent money, but the union went sour in the early nineties - now the drivers are lucky to get peanuts.
- Alot less than you can ever imagine, for the responsibility they endure...it is NOT worth it to be a driver under todays wages!
- I dont know - I wouldn't think they'd make much cause all they do is sit there and drive like normal. They really don't go out of their way to help a passenger. Take it from me - I've taken a bus from Pennsylvania to Montana
- its still a union job...the pay is above average say for a manufacturing job....start off around 15-16 dollars an hour...but expect long hours...you,ll get the crappy runs first...not the dedicated short runs...long runs..like from ohio to new york...overnight stays...picking up another bus and returning or covering a route where someone called off...you,ll be gone from home a few days at a time...but as you get up there you,ll be able to choose better routes....i used to be a terminal manager for greyhound...g/l in your choice...also be prepared to deal with the underside of society...cause lets face it...if you have to take a greyhound from ohio to new york on a 13 hour trip versus flying there in 3 hours you will be dealing with a lower class population
- I rode on Greyhound about 4 years ago and one of the drivers that I was talking to told me he was making $19.50 an hour and was waiting for the next raise. Don't know if this is true or not but that is what he said. I was asking because I thought about driving for Greyhound.
