I am riding on a Greyhound bus for the first time and I have a question about loading?

On the greyhound website it says (in nice bold print) that seating is on a first come, first serve basis and that purchasing a ticket in advance "does not guarantee a seat". Does this mean that even though I've bought a ticket I may not be able to take the trip if the bus is full? Might I have to stand for the whole 23 hour trip?

1. This means if you are not there on time or early you may not get a seat on that bus. You'll have to wait for the next. They sell more tickets then there are seats so make sure you check in early.
2. You cant stand I dont think. Usually those buses are just for sitting. Not enough Isle room to stand and nothing to hold on to.
3. It's against their rules to stand, everyone has to have a seat. Their are no assigned seats plus they run all day so don't worry just get there early.
4. Yes zoom is right be there bright and early and you cannot stand on the bus you have to sit so if you do not have a seat....no trip
5. 1. Since this is new to you, you may want to do a "trial run," to see how Greyhound is set-up, so you don't get lost on your day of departure. 2. Go to the Greyhound Station and purchase your ticket in advance (do NOT lose it.) 3. If you arrive at the bus station early you should be able to get a seat on the bus. Try to get to the bus station at least an 1-1/2 hours before you are scheduled to leave. Day of Departure, locate your gate and hope that there is no one in line, in front of you. 4. Depending on your departure time, it is always good to arrive at the bus station early, so you can be one of the first passengers on the bus. 5. Take something to eat on the bus. It can be a sandwich, snack, bottles of water, coffee, whatever you like. Food is NOT served on the bus. (Yes, there is a restroom on the bus) 6. There will be an announcement, indicating that your bus is ready to board and/or depart. Listen carefully for the Departure number for your gate. If the gate number is not on your ticket, write it down, so you don't forget it. 7. The Gate Departure Number is probably written on the bus ticket cover. Look carefully so you know the gate number where you are going, as well as, the city where you are going. 8. Listen for an announcement that your "departure gate number/destination is announced." 9. Make sure you go to the correct gate number for your destination/and bus departure gate. 10. Do NOT lose your bus ticket. 11. You can take bottles of water and food food on the bus, (it is NOT served on the bus) sandwiches/coffee/cookies, etc., whatever you like to eat. Take coffee in a thermos as, paper coffee cups can be a disaster when traveling by bus. 12. You may take reading material, newspapers, magazines, etc. on the bus.
6. it means if the bus is full (every seat taken) you will have to wait for the next one. its very common through out bus companies worldwide
