126 Bus from Hoboken to NYC?

Does the 126 Bus from Hoboken to NYC stop on Clinton and first, or Clinton and third? On the NJ Transit website, it says third, but on the NJ Transit PDF for #126, it says first. Also, does it mostly stay on schedule when you're traveling around 7am weekdays? Or do you get stuck in hours of traffic? Thanks!

  1. It is possible that there is a stop at Clinton & 3rd and one at Clinton & 1st. I haven't traveled within Hoboken in a while but NJT local buses tend to start on time but could get caught in some traffic getting to the Lincoln Tunnel. The Lincoln Tunnel does have dedicated bus lanes so they get thru fairly well. Have you considered walking over to Washington Av and then to the Hudson Terminal (on Observer Highway) and taking PATH into Manhattan? PATH takes less time (14-15 minutes) to go from Hoboken to 33rd Street/6th Avenue in Manhattan (with stops at Christopher St, 9th St/6th Av, 14th St/6th Av, 23rd St/6th Av and 33rd St/6th Av). There is also a PATH train that goes from Hoboken to lower Manhattan (World Trade Center) - weekdays only. The PATH fare is $1.75 one way. If you buy a 10, 20 or 40 trip Smart Card Gray (a paper card that has an 6 month usage expiration date) for $13.00, $26.00 or $52.00 respectively (from the Newsstand in the rail terminal) the cost drops to $1.30 one way There is also a plastic SmartLink Card (a one time cost of $5.00 - exact change required) which does not expire and can be purchased from a machine at the larger PATH stations such as Hoboken or 33rd St and WTC stations (there is also a $18.00 version - exact cash only - which is $5.00 for the card plus $13.00 for 10 trips). You can add the same 10, 20 or 40 trips to this card at any larger machine in any PATH station. The $5.00 cost pays for itself by the 11th usage (45 cents savings vs a regular single fare each time x 11 usages is $$4.95). Yo can also put on 1 day unlimited riding, 7 day unlimted riding or 30 day unlmited riding to the plastic SmartLink Card (the unlimited option is not available on the paper SmartLink Gray card).. The plastic SmartLink card can also be registered online so if lost or stolen it can be replaced (at a $5.00 fee). Note: The basic PATH fare is scheduled to increase from $1.75 to $2.00 on 9/18/11. The discounts that will be given on the SmartLink cards are (10, 20, and 40 trip - $15.00, $30.00 and $60.00 repectively (or $1.50 per trip). The 7 day unlimited will go to $21.00 and the $30 day unlimited will go to $65.00. http://www.panynj.gov/path/fares.html http://www.pathsmartlinkcard.com/ http://www.jerseycityindependent.com/2011/08/19/port-authority-approves-path-fare-toll-hike-plan/
