Greyhound Bus?

Heyy okay so ill give you the background to why Im choosing greyhound. I need to go from Toronto to kelowna BC. this summer, im 17and on a budget, a plane will cost 750 a train 1100 and the greyhound 250. So it is my only choice. The bus ride is 2 nights and I was wondering how safe it is, like will i be robbed in my sleep or pick pocketed? where is the best place to sit? and about luggage, will it definetly arrive in kelowna will it be stolen along the way if I put it "under the bus"? Is it as bad as i perseive it to be? Thanks

  1. Bring a lock for your bag and wear a moneybelt. You can find them on Amazon.com. Have fun!
  2. I've traveled by bus and never had a problem with theft. Of course, you want to be smart about things. Some suggestions are: Keep your valuables locked in your suitcase. Don't use a flashy new suitcase that screams "money!" I've never had a suitcase stolen during bus travel, and have always put them under the bus. If you change buses, you change your luggage. Don't forget it or leave it unattended anywhere. Sit near the front of the bus, if you're concerned, so you're within view of the driver. Keep your wallet on your body -- in a pocket is fine. Be sure you sleep with that pocket pretty much under you or at least covered with a blanket, so it's not temptingly accessible and unattended. Most folks riding the bus are quite honest. The chances that you'll run into one of those 5% who aren't are pretty small. Don't worry, but don't be stupid about it, either. Bus travel can be tedious, but is otherwise fine.
