Where are the bus stops in San Francisco?
I cant figure out where the bus stops actually are? In Minneapolis, there is a distinct "bus stop" sign, but in Sf, I can find them? Some times I see people just waving down the bus, some times people can only get on at one stop and only get off at another, I am so confused. Iv used google maps and they tell me where to go, where they say a bus stop is, but Im not 100% sure because there is no sign? I need a sign. Thank you!

- you need a sign? look for the painted yellow strips on the nearby vertical poles.
- There is usually a sign on the pole, like this: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://sf.streetsblog.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/07_02/2574554709_0e34ebe62a.jpg&imgrefurl=http://sf.streetsblog.org/2009/07/02/bus-stop-consolidation-the-times-have-changed/&usg=__Y265Amkl5mEceHMzAU339eQpJYI=&h=500&w=333&sz=99&hl=en&start=42&zoom=0&tbnid=lZFIWLxDre7NZM:&tbnh=130&tbnw=85&ei=A5HtTabDApTWtQOp0tCwAw&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dsan%2Bfrancisco%2Bbus%2Bstop%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26sa%3DN%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26biw%3D1032%26bih%3D608%26tbm%3Disch&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=833&vpy=219&dur=289&hovh=130&hovw=87&tx=130&ty=74&page=4&ndsp=15&ved=1t:429,r:9,s:42 There is always a stopping lane marked on the street and the curb will be red. Many have a shelter like this: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.infrastructurist.com/wp-content/uploads/san-francisco-bus-stop.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.infrastructurist.com/2009/09/15/9-bus-stops-of-the-future/&usg=__CwO7M7azkJ-BeEGMVDVjy49f1cs=&h=297&w=396&sz=43&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=iJWqd5MBOoCKYM:&tbnh=133&tbnw=171&ei=A5HtTabDApTWtQOp0tCwAw&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dsan%2Bfrancisco%2Bbus%2Bstop%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26sa%3DN%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26biw%3D1032%26bih%3D608%26tbm%3Disch&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=295&vpy=143&dur=3524&hovh=194&hovw=259&tx=138&ty=98&page=1&ndsp=14&ved=1t:429,r:1,s:0
- I know of no bus stops in SF where you can get on but not off, or vice versa. And I'm a daily Myni user. On major lines (and some lesser lines) stops are really clear: Red curb, white outline on pavement with the words BUS STOP inside, bus shelter with Muni logo and line numbers. And at transfer points generally a NextBus digital display. Even on minor lines there's usually a yellow marking on the pavement plus either yellow around a light pole or a post-mounted bus stop sign, plus a stop number and no smoking sign! I'm not sure why it's being so hard for you, but I'd suggest getting a paper Muni map and/or doing some study of the Muni website.
