How do i travel on greyhound with a laptop?

I have to ride on greyhound to visit family. I need to bring my laptop and I have no idea of what the best way to travel with it is without it being stolen. Please help!

1. Put the lap top in a lap top case or brief case and carry it on board with you or hide it in your baggage as it travels under the bus in a baggage compartment. First option is the surest and safest. Do lot lay it down or let it out of your site when making stops for a break.
