- A school bus driver will not speak to a car driver - not his or her job. All they would do is report the car and license number to the police department. The fact that you stopped is a plus but you may still get a ticket.
- No, bus drivers prefer you don't for the safety of the kids but if you do go past its probably a good idea to keep moving, back when I road the bus the driver would get annoyed when people kept driving but she never wrote down license plates or anything, just complained. I highly doubt you'll get in trouble or my hometown would be rich by now. I've seen dozens of people do it though they keep going as if the bus wasn't even there. Although you should stop when you see a bus's stop sign, i doubt you'll get in trouble
- you could get in trouble but a ticket of fine is about all they can do to you
- You're fine now, no one is going to come after you lol. If the bus driver was going to report you they would have taken down your license, but it would probably be pointless considering there is no proof.
- I don't quite follow what the problem is here but it might be that we are on different sides of the pond. Presumably, there was a bus at the bus stop. I'm a driving instructor in the UK and if, as I suspect, you are American, then I'm not sure I can give you a complete answer. Although we have strict regulations as to where you can and can't park near schools, they may differ slightly to yours. Firstly, let me say, the very fact that this has concerned you is a good sign. It seems as if you may have made a mistake but the fact that this has worried you is a good sign. Secondly, I wouldn't worry about getting into trouble. It's his word against yours. As I said before, your actions show those of a conscientious driver.
- In most states, if there's a raised median island between you and the bus, you don't have to stop. However, NYS law does not address a raised median island barrier. Otherwise, you might get a warning notice if you are reported. The police have to see the violation for a ticket to be issued.
- I'm a school bus driver. If the driver was able to get your license number they will report it to the police and the police will fine you. The people saying "it's your word against theirs" are giving you bad advice because school bus drivers are legally considered an extension of the police department when it comes to this subject. All they need is the bus driver's word. My guess would be you were going to fast and/or not paying attention. Or you saw the bus put on it's yellow lights and hit the gas to try and beat it. All you can really do now is sit and wait for a police officer contacts you. you won't know whether you have been reported until or unless one does.
