USA Bus Lines

What's it like being on a greyhound bus for the first time?

Im going to Oklahoma, to go see my bf (hes in the army and is stationed there, it's not long distance over the internet). And he bought me a greyhound ticket, and i've never been on one by my self... Or at all, im used to a charter bus, with friends that i know... How do you know what bus to get on, when u transfer in between stops that they do??? Do they tell you?

  1. Its a moving experience. There are few rituals every greyhounder knows: 1. Wear bright colors 2. Sit with a complete stranger but switch strangers after each stop. It let's everyone get to know each other. 3. The greyhound is different than any other bus in the world, many ppl that haven't been on it, don't know that if u go all the way to the back, there is a hot tub and basketball hoop. Dress in a swimsuit!
  2. its the worst way to go its not safte the buses break donw the driver wilkl not help you they are rude and if you miss your bus your ticket is then not honor on another person plus you get lied i heard of one person g from seattle to pomona (which is near los angeles) he was told by greyhound driver to get off in redding California slight problem Pomona was 700 miles away from redding. do not use them
  3. I have to agree with Travelmaster. The Greyhound system is less than dependable from my experiences. Also there are many other affordable travel options available in most parts of the country. Amtrak for example costs much the same as Greyhound and provides a more comfortable travel experience. There are also regional bus companies that offer more amenities for lower fares in many cases. One good regional carrier that serves Oklahoma is Jefferson Lines. Best of luck!
