Cheapest way to get to San Antonio, TX from Orange County, CA?

Two of my friends and I want to travel to San Antonio, TX from Orange County, CA and back after a couple days. We visited a while back and drove an SUV but we ended up spending A LOT of money on gas alone. I was wondering what transportation method would be cheapest? I couldn't find a metro or train that could get us there, so I was trying to look into some sort of charter bus but couldn't find any. Any help/advise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you :) (We're trying to spend around $100 or less on transportation if there are any.)

  1. you can get there, but it will be more than $100.00 Greyhound bus has several routing's departing from Santa Ana that take 32 to 35 hours, and includes a couple bus changes for $238 to $342 R/T Amtrak departs from L.A.'s Union Station on a 29 hour trip that costs $276 to $532 R/T. Various airlines depart from O.C John Wayne on trips that vary from 6 to 11 hours for fares of $384 to $509. If I had to choose among the choices I would take the Amtrak "Sunset Limited" for the $276 R/T fare. It's almost nonstop, and you have lots of room to walk around.
