How do I get my greyhound to stop puking in my car?
My 3 year old greyhound gets sick whenever we take a trip in the car- short or long drive. It's super annoying and I feel really bad for him. Any ideas?

- Well she might just get car - sick. Some dogs don't like car rides. Maybe you could try putting her in a crate (one to fit her) with a blanket overtop. Hope it helps
- Quit taking the dog in the car!!!!Its obviously getting car sick!!
- Take Walks instead
- Leave dog at home, get a house sitter, or take the dog to a kennel.
- Saw this and haven't tried it. http://www.animed.org/dogs_car_sickness.htm
- my vet had me give my dog that gits car sick a dose of pepto bismal. it works great on short car trips, have not been brave enough to take her on a long one. if you do i would suggest bringing the pepto with you.
- Some car rides just arent for dogs.I know my dog loves riding in the car. What i would do is take him on walks regulary, and only take him in the car when you need to.
- I know what you're going through! My vet actually prescribed something for my shepherd/lab mix to make her a little bit drowsy so she'd end up sleeping in the car. I know it sounds like a drastic thing to do but she has epilepsy so extreme anxiety is a trigger for her seizures. But anyway, she grew out of the car fear herself. She's two now and absolutely LOVES car rides!
- A lot of dogs suffer from motion sickness, which sounds like that's what he may be suffering from in the car. However, anxiety can cause vomiting too. Go to petsmart, and on the medication aisle, they will have some stuff(sorry can't remember the name of it) that will calm your puppy down while driving. If you can't find it, ask a clerk, and he/se will help you locate it. No need to take him to the vet, and spend more money than you need to. Good Luck !!!
- make sure you dont give him food or water before you go on a car ride this will help
- Immodium AD works better for Greyhounds than Pepto. I own two greys and belong to a greyhound club http://www.greyhoundadoption.org/ and this is commonly talked about as working for an upset stomach. Give him a 1/2 dose. As was mentioned in another answer, some dogs are so anxious when going on car rides that they get ill. Your vet can prescribe something for trips in the car but I would recommend leaving him home instead.
