How can I adopt a greyhound from the racetrack?

Im looking to adopt a greyhound, and I think it would be really neat to see it run its last race. Im not sure if this is possible, and I realize there would be a additional work training a dog that hasn't been fostered but would be worth it to me. If anyone could put me in contact with some great organizations that could help me id really appreciate it. Thanks all!

  1. Google "greyhound rescue" with your area in the search, and see who comes up for you to contact. Most greyhound rescues get their dogs from the track, and they can tell you what you need to do.
  2. Just type "greyhound rescue, whatevercityyoulivein" I highly doubt you would be able to see the dog race, but I think it is a great idea to adopt an x racer. I've always been intrigued by these guys myself.
  3. Greyhound Pets of America is a wonderful group for adopting these incredible dogs. They have chapters across the United States. I have adopted 3 greyhounds through them in Maryland. They make wonderful pets-need very little space and contrary to what you might think, they do not need an unusually great amount of exercise. They are true couch potatoes. They are intelligent, eager to please and easily trained. I recommend it!
