How many of these may be privatised over the next five years?

Vince Cable was proposing privatising many of these, the prisons and even the roads during the 2005 and 2010 election before they were even in a Coalition and the Conservatives have always favoured privatisation, as there in government how many of these state owned companies do you think will be privatised over the next Parliament? Obviously I've not included the NHS or schools. In any case here they are: Transport for London Northern Rock Lloyds National Express Bradford & Bingley Dartford Crossing Defence Storage and Distribution Agency High Speed 1 Land Registry The Met Office The Oil and Pipelines Agency Ordinance Survey he Public Forest Estate Public Sector Spectrum Holdings The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre The Royal Mints monopoly The Student Loan Portfolio London Underground Network Rail United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority Royal Mail BBC Worldwide Channel 4 Scottish Water Glas Cymru Northern Irish Water British Energy National Air Traffic Services. Oh and if you know any others that may be that I have missed out of my list do say.

  1. Pleese! don't give them a flippin' list. Now you've done it.
  2. I wouldn't have a clue about most of them, but I believe The Royal Mail might be. Don't know why you haven't included the NHS as I believe this to be one of the main areas for privatisation with many parts of it going over to the private sector. This seems inevitable as the proposals for doctors to take over the budget will end up with doctors passing this over to private companies and the private companies working with private health firms to cherry pick what they want to take on that is currently done by the NHS. A couple of areas I think that will end up fully privatised are audiology and physiotherapy as there is a lot of money to be made there by the private sector. I believe before long that we will have to pay towards the cost of these treatments.
  3. Just the ones that are making money. The ones that are losing money stay with the taxpayer.....Isn't that how privatisation works ?
  4. Bradford and Bingley is not state owned, it sold to Ssntander last year. Not all the things you list can be sold by the government, Manchester Airport shares are held by local councils, all showing their flags there, it would be their choice to sell. I doubt the NHS will be sold as this would guarantee electoral wipeout for both coalition parties. Most of what could be sold was sold years ago.
  5. The profitable ones the ones that make money and the one that make a loss well if the rules can changed or the playing field altered so that they can make a profit, them too.
  6. Why not include the NHS and schools? Ok - They may be privatised by the back door, but they will be privatised.
