Can school buses use the shoulder?
When there is traffic Jam on the Highway, Transit buses use the shoulders, and the sign says authorized buses only, so can school buses use, than they are going on a fixed schedule and the kids have to be at their stop at a certain time, otherwise their parents won't be there etc.

- well it might depends on the state you are in something using the shoulder can be dangerous the driver might encounter broken down vehicle and not have enough time to stop to avoid colliding with the vehicle or they could encounter a police officer who is citing another vehicle and kapow! no more police officer or car this happen recently in California and the officer was killed...because someone used the shoulder and plowed right into the officer...he coyuldnt stop in time all because he was in a hurry he wanst in hurry after that
- You'd better check out your local traffic regulations. You didn't even tell us what country you're from, so it's rather difficult to help. Where I live (Canada), driving on the shoulder is unheard of except for emergency vehicles. There are places with reserved lanes for buses, but the shoulder can never be used to drive on unless you're in an ambulance, firetruck or police car, or if your car breaks down. When the highway gets too busy at rush hour, the transit buses take surface roads.
