What names do you suggest for a greyhound?

I'm adopting a retired racer later this year. In the meantime, what names would you suggest for a greyhound? I haven't picked - I asked for a female but I told the agency I'd rather have a match on personality rather than gender.

  1. Male or female?
  2. Google will provide numerous names for either male or female. http://www.top-dogs-names.com/greyhound-names.html http://www.faqs.org/shareranks/1155,Top-20-Names-for-Your-Greyhound-Dog
  3. Flyer. My aunt had a doberman named flyer so it's a borrowed name, but fitting for a greyhound!
  4. Al Presidente Barack De Apology Martinez Oabama. Or Barry for short.
  5. Have you read the book Born To Run by Micheal Morpurgo? Its about a greyhound that keeps going from owner to owner, getting different names each time. I swear to god this book will make you cry at some point or another. Anyway, there were some names in there that are really suitable for greyhounds only, but I cant remember any of them and I cant find the book, but read it anyway, its a beautiful book :)
  6. First - CONGRATULATIONS on adopting a retired racer! You might want to wait until you adopt your dog before deciding on their name. The dog will come with the name that they are registered with & raced under and also a "kennel name" that they are used to being called by. You may decide to keep the name(s) the hound comes with .... or not, My female ran under the name PEACH RAIN .... she came with the kennel name of Peaches (which I didn't like) - so I changed hers to Rainy. My boy came with names both ways that I didn't care for, so I chose my own call name for him. I would suggest waiting until you get the dog before you try to name him/her. A dog's name should reflect their personality, and you won't know "who" your dog is until you adopt them. Thanks for adopting a retired racing greyhound - you will soon have a fast friend!
  7. Frankie, Action, Bruno, Gidget, Speedy, Fonzie, Sadie, Heidi,
  8. I am one of those people who have to meet the dog first. Because to me it is a personality thing.
