USA Bus Lines

Whats the best way to get from Montreal to New York City?

As part of my RTW trip i will be travelling from Montreal, Canada to New York City, USA. I was hoping to go via afew places on the way like Scranton, PA. Whats the best way to do this without flying. Like is there a bus service or train line. Or would the cheapest option be just to fly straight from Montreal to New York City?

  1. bus to scranton. no train service there.
  2. You can take Amtrak's Adirondack services from Montreal to NYC. The trip take about 11 hours each way, and the one way fare will cost you $62. I hope this information is very helpful. Good luck
  3. Amtrack runs from NYC to Montreal. Scranton is not on the way, and is NOT worth going out of your way, unless you have family or friends to visit there. The train stops in Saratoga Springs, NY and Albany, NY. Albany isn't so interesting, but if you're creative you might be able to find some stuff to do. Saratoga Springs, NY is a great stop over, though. They have a nice downtown area, the horse racing track, and the lake. There is lots to do there. The bus probably runs from NYC to Montreal also, but I'm not as familiar with it. The bus is usually the cheapest option, but would be very uncomfortable and would take a lot longer.
  4. Amtrak is probably your least expensive option. There are buses, but they are usually less comfortable, and take longer getting through customs when entering the US. Here is the link to one bus company, so you can at least compare the services. http://www.trailwaysny.com/
