Can a 17 year old get a Greyhound bus ticket from Southern Illinois to Ontario, Canada? And cost?

I'm a 17 year old male, wanting to travel to Ontario, Canada. Not trying to run away, just visiting a friend. But I'm not sure how Greyhound buses work. And how much would that long of a trip cost and take? Or would a train be better? Yeah, I have a passport, sorry for not mentioning that.

1. Before you think about entering Canada you must have a valid passport. If you go to Greyhound's website they should have a list of routes they take and the prices.
2. No, I don't think you can. According to this link: http://www.greyhound.com/travel_information/children.shtml they won't sell tickets to unaccompanied minors in Illinois.
