Greyhound, High Energy? NOT. I have 3 couch potato Greyhounds -most of them come from the track as RETIRED.?

Retired racing greyhounds make great therapy dogs to work with children. They are low key, and only need a 10-15 minute walk twice a day. You couldn't ask for an easier dog to maintain. They do need to be kept on leash if not in an enclosed area, but most are very good leash walkers since they were handled daily since puppies.

  1. I love the Greys, but would rather own a Whippet as they are smaller then Greys.
  2. Greyhounds are known as the 40 mile an hour couch potato. They are very low maintenance and lovely dogs. I know several rescued racers and they're all absolutely wonderful and extremely well-socialized. Greys are greyt!
  3. Is this a question? I love greys too. I had whippets for 16 years and my sister had rescued greys. We used to get together and they would easily approach each other as long lost buds. Nothing is prettier than watching a sighthound run. As long as it isn't on a track.
  4. Yeah, greyhounds are very big couch potatoes. Alot of people keep them in apartments and just take them on daily walks. By the way, whats the question??
  5. As I reply to this question I look at my couch potato (mulberry) sleeping on the couch next to me. I couldn't have asked for a better dog. More people need to be made aware that greyhounds are not high energy and just prefer to sleep and be loved. And even though they are larger dogs they fold up and take up much less space than a golden retriever or a lab (I call greys origami dogs). Even my boyfriend who is afraid of large dogs (he was attacked by a doberman at a young age) has fallen in love with greyhounds. They are such sweet, loving, and thankful creatures, I will never get any other kind of dog. I'm addicted!
