Someone who knows the CTA buses in Chicago?

I'm going to be taking the Metra into downtown chicago. I need to go from there to 30 N Michigan Avenue. I can't read the bus schedules at all, because to look them up you need to know which route to use. Could someone tell me a good route from Metra to 30 N Michigan, and/or back?

  1. It would help to know which station your arriving in??
  2. Below are 2 routes suggested by the RTA. Both start at Washington & Canal. Take either a # 20 or # 60 bus to 30 N. Michigan. Go to the source below to plan your trips...it's not hard. 3. Try this......Google Maps for Chicago now has an option to get a public transit directions but we need to know where you are starting from. http://maps.google.com/help/maps/transit/chicago/
  4. You don't say which Metra station you're going to be stopping at. There are two buildings that are Metra stops, Union Station and Ogilivie Train station. The destination you name (30 n. Michigan) is right at Madison and Michigan Ave. In plain English, if you're coming from Union Station, walk out of the train station to the east side (ask someone if you're unsure) and catch the No. 151 bus. It will turn on left on State Street. Get off at Madison and State and walk two blocks east. The bus costs $2. To get back to the train station, catch the 151 bus right on MIchigan Ave. and take it right back to Union Station's front door. To get to 30 N. MIchigan from the Ogilivie train station, go to the north side of the station (again, ask someone if you;re not sure ) and catch the No. 20 bus. Get off at Monroe and Michigan Ave. and walk one block north. Again, it costs $2. To get back, take the No. 20 bus on Madison (you should be right there when you leave your destination) and it will drop you right in front of the Ogilivie train station.
  5. from Ogilvie/Northwestern Station, take the 20 or 56 from Union Station, try the 151 (get off at Madison & walk to Michigan--2 blocks, max) Also, the Google option is better than the RTA one referenced above, plus you can get an actual map there. The CTA site has a link on the home page: http://www.transitchicago.com
