How safe are Greyhound Bus stations?

Myself and three friends are taking a 1 day 5 hour trip to Florida for Spring Break, we are all 18 and female. We are scheduled for almost a four hour layover and it is from 830pm to midnight in Birmingham, Al. Is this safe and do you recommend this? Any information helps, preferably experience! Thank you!

1. Four of you should be OK. Stay together and don't wander off or anything.
2. In my experience a good-sized Greyhound terminal is usually pretty safe. There are employees and other travellers present so nothing is likely to happen except maybe pickpocketing or someone might try to nab your bags when you aren't looking. Neighborhoods outside terminals are often pretty dodgy, so its a good idea to stay inside unless you're sure its safe.
