Travelling to New York?

I currently live in Manchester, New Hampshire and i am looking to travel to New York sometime in the coming months. Unfortunately i havent got a car at the moment so i would have to take either a bus or a train there. I was wondering what would be cheaper to take, a bus or a tain? Also does anyone have any links to sites for bus services that travel from NH to NY that arent that expensive? Also links to train stations that travel to NH from NY?

  1. for buses research Greyhound and for trains research amtrack - prices should be about the same (a train may be a little more expensive, but they are much nicer to travel on than a bus). by the way, even if you had a car, you would want to travel by bus or train - it cost a fortune to park your car in the city (between $35 to $50 a day) and you wouldn't want to drive around new york in your car, so you would pay for taxi's anyhow - just letting you know in case you do get a car and want to drive. have fun in the city - it's a great place to visit.
  2. My friend, if you're taking Amtrak, the one way fare from Manchester to New York City via Boston will cost you $73 ($146 round trip). However, if you take the Amtrak from Manchester to New Haven, CT via Boston, the one way fare will cost you $56 ($112 round trip). Once in New Haven, CT you can take Metro-North's New Haven Line from New Haven to Grand Central in New York City. The round trip fare from NH to NYC will cost you $28. If you're taking the bus, there is no direct bus service from Manchester to New York City. Therefore you will have to take, a commuter bus from Manchester to Boston and then take either Greyhound, Megabus or BoltBus from Boston to NYC. I hope this information is very helpful. Good luck Native New Yorker
