I drive a school bus, and do charters for the company, I have a log book from a previous company.?

Can I use this log book with the new company, or do I need to get a new log book. The new bus company says, it isn't necessary because it is a school function, but I say it's 125 miles away, and don't want to lose my job because of a company error.
