USA Bus Lines

Do you think that this job offer is a scam?

Last weekend, I saw an ad in the local newspaper for a traveling sales job. When I called, the company told me that they are a magazine and children's book company who are seeking 80-100 people between 18-25 to travel the United States to sell subscriptions to people in different cities. The person said that they would pay for a charter bus to take me to their headquarters in CA and I would have a 30 day paid training period ($25 a day) and if they decided to hire me or if I decided to take the job, me and a group of people would travel to 30-35 cities in a period of 6 months going to local hotspots and college campuses asking people to buy magazine subscriptions. I would only get commision with a promise of $25/day if I sold nothing and I would also get a $500 sign on bonus only to be used for doctor visits, food, etc. I am thinking about taking this job but am concerned for my safety and need to know if this is a possible setup (illegal activites) or simply a scam. Thanks!

  1. No. Scams are usually more attractive & appealing. Like "work from home" or "get paid to take surveys.".....but This sounds like real work. It's probably real, but if they ask you to pay any money/fees to them, then it's a scam. They are the ones who are supposed to be paying you.
  2. SCAM!!!! My friend did this and was home after 1 week. They take you to an area and drop you off. Sometimes you are put up in a hotel to canvass the area completely. There is a quota for you to meet every day and your expenses are deducted from any money you make. So in the end you are slave labor and make next to nothing. Think about it, who in today's economy will buy a magazine subscription??
