when is not necessary to stop for a school bus in washington state?
I am a new driver. I have some confused about when I don't have to stop for a school bus if it stops with red light flashes. How about if it moves but the red light still flashes, do I need to stop?

- i would say yes. not sure about washington, but i would err on the side of caution when dealing with school buses.
- If the lights are flashing that means it is coming to a stop. You need to stop. It even tells you this on the bus. I think it is best to error on the side of safety. The buses usually let the kids off and the sit till the cross the street. Running over kids is usually frowned upon; even if your in a hurry.
- If the red light is flashing do not try to pass it, that is what that stop sign is for. It is just a warning that students may cross in front of the bus. Basically, to create a safe environment, when that stop sign comes out or the lights start flashing pay attention, slow down, and don't pass the bus unless you are 100% positive it is safe.
