Larne to Glasgow by bus/coach crossing on the ferry?
I have spent half the day trying to find coach/bus services that run from Larne in Northern Ireland to Glasgow in Scotland. I have called travel agents, ulsterbus/translink, National Express, the P&O and Stenaline ferry services and no one can give me the name of any of the bus/coach companies that do this journey. I know that there are loads as I have friends who have done this journey though typically my friends don't remember the name of the various bus/coach companies that they used! Does anyone out there know anything useful for me?! Primarily I am looking for the names of the bus/coach companies that do this run, thanks for your help....... PS I don't want to go from Belfast, it's too much hastle because of where I live....

- go to traveline web site http://www.traveline.org.uk/index.htm out in stranrear (belfast ferry terminal) then wherever you want in glasgow. this will plan your journey for you! stagecoach west are the bus company not sure about the train but have a look at the website (you are looking for journey planner scotland) As stranrear is the scottish port after your trip from larne
- City Link run from Stranraer to Glasgow twice a day for £13.50 There is a direct train from the ferry port to Glasgow central for £18.50
- The only remaining through coach service is operated jointed by Ulsterbus and Scottish Citylink (service 923). Two journeys a day in each direction, one of which continues to/from Edinburgh. Alternatively, take the ferry to Scotland (either Stranraer or Cairnryan) and catch Stagecoach West Scotland service 358 or 360 to Ayr. There take the Stagecoach West Scotland X77 coach service to Glasgow. The 358/360 is about every two hours (and it operates into the Cairnryan terminal); the X77 is every 30 minutes (more frequent in the peak).
