- Greyhound has lots of problems, but sometimes there is no other choice. So...first, you must be 16 or over to take a trip of 5 hrs or more See site below. If you order your ticket on line, you may choose to have it mailed to you or to pick it up at the station. This is called "Will call." If you do that , you must have a photo I.D. When you need to transfer, the gate number for the bus you need will be posted in the station. You may also ask at the counter. Sometimes there is a long wait for the nest bus. You MUST insist that you SEE your checked bag put on the new bus! This transfer time is when they "lose" bags...so watch carefully. Do not put more than $250.00 worth f stuff in checked bag. Put valuables in carry-on bag...and keep that bag between your legs or on lap with strap over your arm. Never put it in an overhead bin. Be wise, careful, use good common sense. most people on the bus are just regular, nice folks. Buses may be old, dirty, late, and have grumpy drivers. Sadly, Greyhound has a lot of improving to do.
