When do I not need to stop for a school bus in washington state?
I am a new driver. I have some confused about when I don't have to stop for a school bus if it stops with red light flashes. How about if it moves but the red light still flashes, do I need to stop?

- If it starts to move and the red lights are still flashing you can go. the laws usually read that you must stop for a stopped school bus with flashing red lights. check it out to be sure. The key is "stopped school bus", as in "Jurisdictions in the United States (including overseas territories) and Canada have adopted various school bus stop laws that require drivers to stop and wait for a stopped school bus loading or unloading..." Legally then, the law would not require you to stop if the bus is moving.
- Play it safe. Always stop when the red lights are flashing. There may be kids around and trust me they don't pay attention so you should.
- doont pass/they turn soon/dont run over the little tykes/they dont like tire treads on their clothes
- your suppose to stop when they are loading or unloading kids. stop some distance between you and the bus. in other words don,t pull up close to the bus. when the yellow lights stop working on the bus then you can go.that,s the way it is here in PA.
