Montreal to Joliette or St-Jerome?

I do not speak French, not enough to find my way around the ATM website. I need to figure out how to get from Montreal to either St-Jerome (via the metro and the commuter train) OR Joliette (I understand there's a CRT bus 55 that goes there?). What I need to know - where can I find the commuter train schedule, and how much does it cost? Also: I will have one of STM's tourist cards that provides access to the busses and the metro. Will this card work on the CRT bus to Joliette? If not, how much does that trip cost?

  1. There is no commuter train to Joliette or St Jerome that I know of . The trains have been tracks have been dismantled .You have to take the bus as far as STM's tourist card I guess you should be calling La Societe de tansport de Montreal and they will advise you of cost as well as schedule .You will love St-Jerome and if you can make it to St-Adele and St-Sauveur the beautiful towns and don't worry about your English there is a lot of Englophones .Good luck and enjoy your trip .I am from that area as well I know Joliette very well .
  2. There is a train that goes to St-Jerome, however it only runs at rush hour, so if you went, it would have to be in the late afternoon, and you wouldn't be able to get back the same day. The fare for the train is $9.50, and can be purchased at the station before leaving. The train leaves from Gare Lucien l'Allier (next to the Bell Centre) 4:10pm, 4:50, 5:30, and 6:45 (see http://amt.qc.ca/tc/train/horaires/horaires_fs.asp?direction=exterieur&codejour=1&ligne=3 ). It returns from Gare St-Jerome at 5:25am, 6:10, 6:55, and 7:25. If you want to get up to St-Jerome for the day, or at a time other than rush hour, you'll have to take the metro and bus. To do this, take the metro (orange line) to the end of the line, at Montmorency. Walk to the bus terminal, and take route 9, operated by the CIT des Laurentides. You can use your STM tourist card on the metro, but for the bus it will cost the same as the train; $9.50. You can find the schedule for the bus at http://www.tec.amt.qc.ca/itec/pa1/circuits/CITLA_L9.htm . See http://www.tec.amt.qc.ca/itec/pa1/ghoraires/CITLA_L9_DR_J10.HTM for the schedule of buses going to St-Jerome, Monday-Friday. Note that "Lundi au Vendredi" means "Monday to Friday", "Samedi" means "Saturday", and "Dimanche" means "Sunday". To get to Jolliette, you can, as you say, take a CRT Lanaudiere bus route 55. You'll need to take the metro green line (direction Honore-Beaugrand) to the second-last station on the line, Radisson. After getting off there, walk up the stairs from the platform, and turn left to get to the bus terminal. You'll find a sign for route 55 there. The schedule can be found at http://www.tec.amt.qc.ca/itec/pa1/circuits/CRTL_L55.htm . Again, you can use your STM day pass for the metro, but you'll have to pay cash for the bus. The bus fare will be $8.75 (see http://www.crtl.amt.qc.ca/tarifs/circuit55_09.asp ).
