What bus lines do I have to take to get from downtown San Diego to anywhere in North County?

I'm originally coming from Horton Plaza, so anywhere close to there is preferred

2. I would take the trolley from downtown and then connect to the buses. It will still take you a few hours but it wont take the whole day like it would on just buses. 3. Get on the trolley to the Amtrak Station. Catch the Coaster north. They have stops in Solano Beach, Carlsbad and Oceanside.
