USA Bus Lines

What is the best way to get from Downtown Seymour, CT to Campbell Ave, West Haven, CT using mass transit?

I need to take either the train or busses to get to work, or both. The schedules are confusing to a first time rider like myself. Does anyone know what busses or trains I should take? Knowing the amount it would cost would be a happy bonus for me.

  1. I'll give it a stab. The best would be to get into a carpool. Look on Craigslist Rideshare, or CTrides.com. CTA Bus: From Seymour City Hall, you would take the F5 or F6 West Chapel Street (whichever comes, they go to New Haven via different routes) to New Haven. The buses all go to Chapel St. east of Church St., on the New Haven Green. At Chapel and Temple, take the B Congress Street for the parts of Campbell Avenue north of West Haven Center, or the J Kimberly Avenue bus for the parts of Campbell Ave south of West Haven Center. Look for the time you need to be there and work backwards. (Arrival time at that location, is departure time from New Haven, which is after the arrival time in New Haven of the Seymour bus). Note that it could be a 2 hour trip, depending on time of day and the connection times. When you look at the bus schedule, look for the area closest to your stop. If there's no time listed, the bus does not go there on that trip. Ask the driver to be sure. The bus stops anywhere along the route with a sign, but they don't list them all in the schedule. They're usually every 2-3 blocks. Train isn't really an option. Seymour is on the Waterbury Line, and you'd have to change in Bridgeport for New Haven, then take the same B or J bus. The train also has fewer trips than the bus. Good luck -- I used to live on the J route.
