USA Bus Lines

Transporting gun across state lines on a bus?

I am thinking about buying a handgun where I live now, however I might move in a year or so. Is it possible to travel by Greyhound bus across state lines and have a legally registered handgun in my luggage? There aren't any laws against this is there? Do they search your bags before boarding the bus? I would think it's ok since it would be a legal handgun, but you never know with the way people are now.

  1. Well, for one you need a concealed carry permit. Then you have to find out whether the state you're going to accepts your permit. Then you have to find out the rules with Greyhound about carrying concealed weapons, because businesses can refuse your right to carry. After all that, you'll have your answer.
  2. 1st step is to call bus line and see what their policy is. Next, you would have to have concealed carry permit and then see it states you are going to be in recognize the state that you have permit in.
  3. you have 2 have a permit to carry a gun ANYWHERE out side of your home (legally) across state lines is diffrent though.... its illegal to transport ammo across state lines let alone a loaded gun.... do it at your own risk. if u do, carry it unloaded, with a trigger lock & the saflty on..... at least the cops can then tell you took every precaution to ensure the safety of the public.
  4. Yes.. but it must be licensed. You have to check it in.
  5. just for the record-firearms crossing state lines must be sent by a licensed gunsmith, and recieved by a licensed gunsmith. private persons can not carry firearms across state lines, law enforcement only
