USA Bus Lines

What did people do at bus stops before mobile phones were invented?

And how did they ever manage to walk down the street without talking on the phone or texting?

  1. Errr... they waited for the bus??
  2. They waited for a bus to get home and make a call.
  3. They used to have dirty old flashers round where i lived....(no not me..i used the park).
  4. vandalised them
  5. lolol
  6. I know its terrible. But it keeps my hands occupied so it stops me from playing with myself..................
  7. well at bus stops people used to talk to eachother, and we survived quite well, and some of us still do,without talking or texting people,i know it sounds hard to believe but it does still happen lol
  8. My buttons are broke..All text out :(
  9. At the bus stop gazed steadfastly in the direction the bus would come from. Chatted maybe about the weather! Walking down the road, noticed the world around them, at present the signs of spring. (I keep my mobile in my pocket just for emergencies).
  10. They read something called a newspaper...
  11. They waited quietly or talked to other people at the bus stop .I don't remember how we got by without the technology.
  12. They were probably sociable and chatted with fellow bustoppers. I don't think it happens much now
  13. They used to climb on the bus shelter then slide down the pole, don't u remember?? Lol They smoked more when they had nothing in their hands like a phone to play with
  14. I always read the paper and still buy one whenever I go on the bus.:)
  15. When I was a youngster we had no mobile phones, or any phones in the home. We had no TV's, no computers, no ipods and no money. Much of the stuff we bought was with coupons because everything was short. Having said all of that, we enjoyed our lives better than they do today. A mobile phone you can do without. It is costly and a drain on your finances.
  16. Stood around pretending to read the bus timetable, but actually listening to the old couple gossiping.
  17. mostly sat around looking to see who just farted and trying to act like it wasn't them
  18. They smoked at the bus stop!
  19. i have often said the same thing....it is like every minute must be filled with chatter to their mates i suppose in the days before mobile phones they might have had a conversation with someone at the bus stop .....a face to face conversation rather than an exchange of text messages or chatter along the lines of 'i''m waiting for the bus' in the life of these people silence must be frighteningly alien.....i happen to love it
  20. Well if it was a Glasgow bus stop they usually gave you their life story whether you wanted it or not.At London bus stops they whinged endlessly about everything under the son and oop north they gossiped.
  21. read the paper or a book, talked to whoever else was there, watched the traffic go by. until something gets invented you just use whats available at the time as you don't know anything else.
