USA Bus Lines

why do Jehovah's witnesses go to bus stops to promote their watchtower magazine?

when they know! most are offended at them, and want nothing to do with jehovahs? why can't they realize it is program of attraction, and not promotion? like even A.A DOES? going out and trying to jam ones beliefs on others? let them come to you!! if they want to be a jehovahs witness i say! and leave people at bus stops alone!

  1. they go everywhere to drum up busines.s....keep walking....i agree they can run ads and quit spamming in person UNinvited...
  2. captive audience
  3. No one gives me a problem when I am at the bus stop the mall or riding the bus,I have great spiritual conversations with people. Sorry it upsets you.
  4. Ask them for yourself. I get them coming to my door sometimes. I just close the door on them.
  5. because a lot of people take the bus
  6. I am not a Jehovah Witness but have had students who were (are). The idea is that the more that a Jehovah Witness is "persecuted' for their religious beliefs, the more likely they are to get into the kingdom of heaven. As a result, they go to the door (as well as do bus stops) to spread the word, thereby fulfilling their commitment to the church as well as increasing their chances of getting into heaven. They believe there is a limited amount of space there (something like 144,000 or some other finite number).
  7. The same reason you get junk mail and spam emails. It works a small % of the time and that's good enough. http://softmelon.wordpress.com
  8. "trying to jam ones beliefs on others." Sounds like evangelical christians, islam, the religious right, etc etc. So don't single out one group, EVERY religion is guilty of trying to force their will on others.
  9. It allows them to cruise for a piece of @ss at the same time.
  10. I don't know, but the city has pretty much run them off from the bus stations here for obstructing traffic. Now if they would just do something about the people circulating petitions.......
  11. It is interesting that they go to the people rather than most other sects that wait for us to go to them.
  12. Probably because they think they will find people waiting for a bus there who would not walk away when they see the JW's aproaching the bus stop.
  13. Because their religion says to convert others, and they are probably sick of people slamming doors in their faces. If you aren't interested in converting, just ignore them and keep listening to your ipod.
  14. They'll go anywhere they think people are stuck and have little choice but to listen to their moronic drivel. Bus stops, laundromats, ticket lines, etc. They don't care about courtesy or privacy; they're only concerned with buying their own way into the afterlife by dumping their demented religious views on you.
  15. Because they are required individually to each spend a few hours a week preaching. That's because the Witnesses believe that everyone who is not given the chance to convert will die forever- people can choose to take it or not, but if they're not offered the chance, they're lost. Seen that way, it's quite noble that they take on what they see as a huge responsibility. So long as the individuals don't go too far, and take no for an answer, I don't see the problem.
  16. My very first encounter with one of the witnesses was at a Bus Stop and I am so grateful for the magazine "Awake" they left for me to read. I always looked forward to seeing them and getting the newest publication. I went to the Kingdom Hall for my first visit and was deeply taken by the people who were present with the deep respect of others and their beliefs in Jehovah GOD. I got into a Home Bible study and have been studying with them for 21 years. I am grateful that I have gotten to know the people, Jehovah God and His Son Jesus. In all these years not one time ever have I seen any disrespect for another displayed or any offensive words spoken.
  17. I agree with Darth Eugene Vader. If a person is at a bus stop they have nothing else to do and nowhere else to go but wait for the bus. So they are sort of forced to listen.
  18. Pretend to be a Polish Catholic with no knowledge of the English language and no wish to become a JW. Carry a small picture of JP2 to wave at them, in case they don't get the message.
  19. People traveling are in an unsettled state, and so easily influenced. For the same reason, con-persons hang out at bus stations.
  20. I totally get it's annoying I'm just offering a different perspective. They do this because Jesus commanded his disciples to do this, just as he did. Does anyone remember that Jesus himself went a taught people about his father? It's in the bible. They are not trying to "jam beliefs" or "convert" people or "persecute themselves". A positive to this is Jehovah's Witness actually helped to contribute to the First Amendment freedoms we all enjoy. Many other groups now are able to have freedom of speech because of this "annoyance" . If you are really interested you could watch the documentary "Knocking" it's by a man who is NOT a Jehovah's Witness. If you want a true answer research it yourself as most of the people answering are not accurate in their statements about Jehovah's Witness' or just don't like them.
  21. They have a quota to make. This quota is recorded in their Field Service Report and it is mandatory, otherwise they won't be save. Real law of men... old men, the governing body, the discreet slaves, truly anti-christ and anti-biblical. Edit: Thumbs down? JW's, you don't like to hear the FSR and the law of old men?
  22. Because people are there. As Jesus went to the people. In the synagogues, from city to city; on the side of a mountain, town to town, in a person's home, where ever he found a listening ear.
  23. In my city they had a major problem with the cult trying to recruit at bus stops, public parks, sports venues, convention center and the Libraries. Alot of people complained and reported it to the police as harassment. The police started to patrol these areas and made alot of arrests for trespassing and for harassment. Eventually it died down after a few months. In the paper a Jw was quoted as saying they are recruiting in these areas because door to door recruiting is not working and in fact becoming more dangerous. However A Jw was severely beat up at a baseball game for putting a Watchtower in a mans backpack. One of the Ex JW that I minster to told me that in his old Kingdom hall they hadn't had a new recruit for almost 2 years and several Jw got injured by knocking on doors! God Bless!
  24. It's only offensive to those that do not like the truth. Jesus being given all authorities from his Father, Jehovah, he commanded all his disciples to do this. --Matt 28:18-20. 2Peter 3:9: Jehovah is not slow respecting his promise, as some people consider slowness, but he is patient with YOU because he does not desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance. Romans 10:11-15: For the Scripture says: “None that rests his faith on him will be disappointed.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for there is the same Lord over all, who is rich to all those calling upon him. 13 For “everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah will be saved.” 14 However, how will they call on him in whom they have not put faith? How, in turn, will they put faith in him of whom they have not heard? How, in turn, will they hear without someone to preach? 15 How, in turn, will they preach unless they have been sent forth? Just as it is written: “How comely are the feet of those who declare good news of good things!”
  25. we arent trying to 'jam out beliefs' on you. we just want to find people who want to learn about the bible you would be very supprised, i think, to find out just how many people do acctually want us there, and how many people do want us to come to them ;) we have a book called' what does the bible really teach'. we have handed out 90 million of them since it came out 4 years ago, free of charge :)
  26. Wow. Your spelling, grammar, and punctuation are simply horrendous. Please retake basic first grade English again, and then repost your question. First, saying that "most are offended at them" is a lie. That's just not true, no matter how much YOU may want it to be. Second, "it is a program of attraction, and not promotion"......what does that even mean? You're not making any sense at all. Third, Jehovah's Witnesses offer, yes offer, to share encouraging thoughts from the Bible with people. We do not "jam" anything at anyone. "Let them come to you".......exactly how would doing that be obeying Jesus in Matthew 28:19, 20 when he told US to GO and preach. He didn't say "let the people come to you". No, we will not leave people at bus stops alone unless they request it. Most people we approach there are friendly and polite, even if they're not interested in our message. Clearly you can, and need to, learn a lesson from their attitude. - (Also, nothing Kip said in his comment is even remotely truthful.)
  27. Because there are a lot of people at bus stops and it is a great way to expand our ministry. No one has ever been rude to me, I witness informally with people all the time and they have mostly been very kind. People are not offended by Witnesses, as a matter of fact most of the people in my territory are always comending us. Even though they don't believe the same as we do it's no reason to be rude in any sense.
