CA - I just received a ticket for failing to stop at a school bus stop. How much for the traffic school?

I am so bummed. I missed the little stop sign that pops out on the left side of the bus. Anyhow, it's my first ticket in my 17 years of driving!! I am definitely going to traffic school, and I need to know how much so I can brace myself. I live in CA.

I dont think the ticket for running the stop sign should be that much but are they making you go to traffic school just for that? You should have to go if you have a clean driving record? anyways i think its a couple hundred maybe 2-$400?
Brace yourself. If you were cited for a violation of Veh C 22454(a) (passing a school bus with flashing lights), that is very expensive. The statewide schedule calls for a fine of $625, and in some counties it might be a bit higher than that. Traffic school costs vary, but will add to the cost as well. If you were cited for violating Veh C 22450(a) (not stopping for a stop sign), then the fine will be around $201 (much nicer). (Note, you are not ordered to go to traffic school in California, it is an option you are given. (IF the "oc" in your nick stands for Orange County, you will probably not be able to go to an online school.) If you complete traffic school the citation is dismissed, there is no DMV point, and no information is available to insurance companies.) ADD: You must go to a school approved by the court. If you sign up with an unapproved school, or you go before you have been authorized to do so by the court, you will be wasting your money.
