Going to mexico soon?

So, im going to mexico in may (yay) and i just found out that i can use my birth certificate and driver's license which is good because I haven't applied for my passport yet and it probably wouldn't have arrived in time. So now I am restricted to traveling by land...can anyone give me any tips? does greyhound go to mexico? Any trains going there? Oh, first i'll need to cross over (i'm currently in arizona, not too far from the border) and get to mexico city, and from there to villahermosa...or if there is any way to stay on the same bus/train from here to villahermosa that would be good. I'm basically just looking for tips, names of bus lines/trains etc, ok people thanx, you've been a big help so far! Now all i have to do is save up the money! (got to get a job first lol)

1. i'm also going in may and am just NOW applying for my passport... you can get it sent to you FASTER and in enough time before your trip...it will just cost a little more....but it's waaaaaaay better than traveling by land......especially now with what all is going on in mexico....i dont even know if i still want to go,....might cancel...
2. As of June 1, you Will need a passport, so you must return before then. There are no trains to Mexico.Which Mexican bus company you use depends on which city you leave from or cross the border from. Check with your local bus station for connecting info. You will change buses at the border and in Mexico city.Mexico, but there are excellent Mexican buses. Since you are not traveling right away, you should go ahead and apply for a passport. Currently takes 4 weeks to get a passport. See site below.
