Cheapest bus ticket from New York to Boston????

I'm not local, and am planning a trip with friends from new york to boston. What bus service offers the cheapest round trip ticket from new york to boston? Also, would the train, from penn, or grand central be less? Thanks.... :)

1. My friend, I would recommend taking the Metro-North's New Haven Line from Grand Central to New Haven - Union Station is the best and cheapest way to go. The fare from Grand Central to New Haven-Union is $28 a person for a round trip off peak ticket. Once there, you can take Amtrak to Boston. The fare Amtrak's Northeast Regional Service from New Haven-Union Station to Boston-South Station is $64 round trip. Please purchase your tickets before boarding. 2. You can take cheaper buses from Chinatown, there are plenty of options there, the buses are OK and clean.
