Do I need an ID to take the Greyhound in Canada?
I won't be crossing into the States. Just East to West coast. You see I lost my wallet and the airlines won't let me fly. Will the man let me bus without identification? I've edited the details... I don't have any ID. It was lost. I am stuck in Halifax without any identification whatsoever with little hope of getting any faxed for about a month. I start school in two days. I won't be crossing into the States. I am a Canadian citizen already in Canada. (So no, I DON'T need a passport) I'm over the age of 18. So, does someone already in Canada who is of age require ID to get on a Greyhound bus?

- you need a passport.
- You cannot enter Canada WITHOUT proper photo ID...period. Walk, drive, snomobile, fly, hop or skip across the border...you need ID! And coming soon, it was postponed...you can't do it without a PASSPORT! If you lost your wallet and ID it doesn't take long to get new ID!
- You will need an ID. If you are under 16. It is always good to have some kind of identification when traveling.
- The drivers are asking for it .Check with them
- Most transit companies like Greyhound or VIA Rail will prefer if their customers present some form of ID when boarding since they are trying to improve security on their service, but in many cases all you should need is a ticket. If you lost your ID, then I would recommend that you go to the nearest police station and advise them of your situation. They may be able to provide you with a form indicating that you lost your ID and it was reported to the police. If you lost your wallet or ID, how is it that you have enough money to take a bus ride home? I would have thought no ID would also mean no cash. And if you start school in two days, I think you will be late if you have to go from Halifax to west coast. It takes a day just to get to Montreal.
