USA Bus Lines

Has anyone traveled U.S to Canada by greyhound bus?

Do they make everyone on the bus get up and show there documents? how does the entry process work?

  1. I went on a bus trip to Niagara Falls. The bus stopped at the border, and an agent got on the bus...we all just had to hold our documents up while he walked by. that was all.
  2. I went on a bus (it wasn't greyhound, but whatever.) They don't make you get up, but they'll get you to pull out your passport or birth certificate and photo ID, and show it to them. They walk down the isle of the bus and check them.
  3. I went last year to Buffalo from Toronto. We had to leave the bus, all of us, take our luggage out of the bus, bring it into customs. Then they checked our suitcases, luggages, handbags, paperwork, etc. Asked us questions regarding our trip and regarding our personal items. We then got back onto the bus, and continued. However, this may be a very lengthy process if anyone has anything suspicious on their record, in theuir luggage, or if there are people of certain ethnicities on your bus.
  4. we have had some "issues" with greyhound passengers in the last year. The worst being a guy who stabbed another passenger to death then decapitated him. So I would expect the border services officers will probably step up security on people crossing the border on buses for awhile. cheers jh
  5. Its up to the officer at the Port of Entry. I generally used to unload Greyhound buses. You'll need proof of Citizenship if you're American. You'll need a passport if you're anyone else. It is your responsibility to provide all documentation and goods.
